Pain and Bondage

As I have always said, well maybe not out loud but if anyone ever does a biography on the pithy quotes of an yard art critic... A man's yard art is a reflection of what is going on in his soul.

SusanH comments and submits:

Finally had to do a little driving around yesterday.... Nothing too
exciting, but this

From Carrboro (Paris of the Piedmont):

A lovely home with wind chimes tinkling in the breeze and sweet patriotic little lambkins

What's the matter little lamb?
What, the neighbors make you nervous?

It is bad enough that you chain them but must you leave the deer beatin' stick out for the neighborhood to see

Score (list provided by SusanH, my comments are in red)
  • Hand plow: 1 point
  • 2 lambs (one is too overcome from implied violence to remain standing): 2 points
  • 3 wind chimes: 3 points
  • Dinner plate (It's amazing really how they just come up from a seed): 1 point
  • Birdbath with 2 birds: 1 point
  • Whirly gig: 1 point
  • Squirrel (turns his back to the deer's plight, squirrels are like that. You can't trust the lot of them): 1 point
Neighbor's looking on:
  • 2 deer (one albino?) chained to rock (pale with exhaustion and stress): 2 points

Subtotal: 12 points

Creativity Bonus

For sad tale of the chained and brutalized deer and the cute little lambs who endure in silence: 2 points

Total: 14 points

OH WAIT, Lambkins is bringing reinforcements.

  2. I don't know but these plate submissions are all coming from around Chapel Hill, so I surmise that plates are indigenous to that region.

  3. I'm from Chapel Hill and I have no clue what they are all about!...but I've seen several lately. Wish I knew! ...and thanks for posting this today. Exactly what I needed when I thought work was taking over life.
