The Snow Flood

Even though in some parts of the country Spring has sprung, even though in my yard the daffodils are blooming, there are others less fortunate. Snow is fighting its final battle.

Kathleen comments and submits:
I have one for you. And I hate those rainbow playstation plastic crap
in the background!!!! The old dress up the tree stump trick we got
here.
Like a port in a storm, the last survivors cling to the stump and wait for help
Rocky: Please Spring come and rescue us from the tide of white, Leo do you see her yet?
Leo: Nope, I think she is still in the trailer, sleeping one off

Score
  • Group leader raccoon in Fort Stump, the flag is still flying: 1 point

Oh good, here comes the rescue team:

  1. Who knew? A new form of winter survival? If only I had a couple of those stumps around the loft this winter.

  2. Here in NJ we're flooding all over, that stump's poor "survivors" would probably be some where in Maryland by now..... and the worst hasn't even come yet...

Gotta love good parenting...how is that any worse then Micheal Jackson holding his baby over a railing??? Them coons ar ealmost as big as the kid!!!

  3. Quickly, EVERYONE-----to the Stump! Too bad about the Jeep and the 'Vette...looks like they're lost to the flood. Hopefully they have insurance against such catastrophes. Maybe rescue will come from a kindly parent dangling their beloved child out of a helicopter. Stranger things have happened.

  4. Tufa Girl, I have some stumps I could give you.

Jester, yes I have been hearing about the floods. Hope everything is OK at your place. The "parent" should be dangled and let the raccoon gnaw on his face.

Karen I have a new found respect for stumps. Yes, is that so kind, dangling you kids head in front of wild animals.

  5. I wonder how long the duckies will last with the raccoon and lion there :P

  6. I was wondering the same as redgirl, those critters must be getting hungry by now.

  7. Plucky and Bucky were boyfriend and girl friend. They hadn't intended on spending such a long weekend up the hill. They had entered the ducky race on the river, but that was cancelled now.

Leo and Ricky seemed friendly NOW, but they were both getting cold feet (ha) about how long that would last.

  8. Hrmm...this is interesting. I have noticed a complete lack of activity on this site between the hours of like 9:30am-1:00pm my (Pacific) time. I'm trying to think what y'all are doing that it more interesting and more important than participating on theyardartgame?

  9. I will catch up as soon as I get out of this meeting. You are making me use my phone again.

  10. Bring the stumps with you when you visit in April! Do you think they will charge you extra?

    ReplyDelete
  11. redgirl, ahem let me catch up. First I think the duckies are provisions, only they don't know it. So your assumption is correct. Leo and Rocky are not feel peckish as of yet. It is best to keep the duckies stress free,as stress taints the meat a bit.

Yes, I have been busy today. Work pssh, what is up with that.

Tufa Girl, my stumps is a whole entry.

Lola, don't get attached to the ducks.

  12. we don't see nearly enough rubber duckies used as yard art.

  13. I agree Marguerite: Duckies are great accents to any yard, and they should be utilized in greater numbers :)

  14. Marguerite, this is true, although I suspect there are more than we see because they are very small and tend to hide.

redgirl, you should get right on that and start a campaign.

  15. Pretty darn cute, both images that is. I am wondering about those ducks though. The big raccoon looks like he is duck hunting.

  16. Oh, my, I overslept again and then took a nap. Redgirl, we can't all be up with the birds like you on the West Coast! To be fair to myself, I just don't feel perky today.

Anyway - the stump committee is all about math, and appetite. The duckies can't cross the white flood by themselves, and only 1 can be carried by the lion or the raccoon. They're safer with the raccoon, but if it takes one across, the other is left with the lion. So ... how....???

  17. Now that I've totally confused all of you, I do know that the sun rises in the East. Don't understand what Redgirl is talking about!

  18. Mom L -
No one is safe with a raccoon. Don't let their cute li'l bandit ways fool you, they are stone cold vicious!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Lola Nova, I know but they such cute little hands

    ReplyDelete
  20. Lola Nova, I agree with LH - they do have cute tiny hands!! And cute little faces.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Mom L: the only one confused by that litany is you :) (happy face makes it all right)

    The duckies need to either
    A) bribe Leo (raccoons are too tricky)
    B) introduce something else into the equation; like luring a duck down. The duck would either provide a possible escort for safety or a satisfying meal for leo and ricky
    C) incite leo into eating ricky. then, he'll have to sleep it off while you lure the duck and fly to a different stump where you might have the opportunity to starve to death rather than being eaten.

  22. redgirl, as a rule duckies can't fly. They just waddle after their Moms. The trick would be to get Leo and Ricky in a smack down. Leo does not have an advantage as Ricky is a very large raccoon and Leo is a bit smallish. During the battle, the duckies should jump stump.

  23. *duck
Actual flying creature, not a *duckie*. they are different species.

If we were betting on the fight, I would give 5 to 1 odds on Ricky >:)

  24. Redgirl: I'm always confused.

  25. The easy part is admitting to it, the hard part is getting help.
